How your money stays safe

Pantry spends real money on your behalf, so it’s built to stop rather than guess. Here is everything it does to keep your money safe.

Every bill, checked

Before each order, Pantry fills its Zepto cart with exactly your basket, asks Zepto for the bill, and reads it back. It places the order only if all of these hold:

  1. Every item you asked for is on the bill.
  2. At the quantity you asked for. “2 in the cart, expected 3” stops the order.
  3. Nothing else. Any item Pantry didn’t add stops the order.
  4. Your address: your home address, or the one you named for this order.
  5. Zepto can deliver there now.
  6. A total it can read.
  7. Within today’s limit.

If any one fails, nothing is ordered, you’re told why, and your basket is kept.

Only your wallet, or cash

Pantry pays from your Zepto wallet when it covers the whole bill, or cash on delivery otherwise. It never uses a card or UPI.

Asks before anything unusual

Never ordered twice

Paying is the one step that can’t be undone, so it’s the one step Pantry never repeats.

  1. Pantry notes the attempt before asking Zepto to place it, and takes the items out of the basket.
  2. It asks Zepto to place the order.
  3. It looks for the new order in your Zepto order history.
  4. Only then does it send ✅.

If anything goes wrong in between, such as a lost connection or a restart, Pantry doesn’t try again. It tells you, so you can check the Zepto app:

⚠️ An order (₹189, 2026-10-28T08:42:10) was interrupted while being placed. Check the shop’s app; it was NOT retried.

One order at a time

Pantry works through everyone’s requests one by one, so two family members tapping at once can never set off two orders. Only the newest Order now button works, so an old message can’t place an order early.

Nobody else can order

When Pantry restarts

Pantry is sometimes updated. It finishes the order it’s working on first, and keeps your basket and any waiting order. If an update came between you and a reply, it tells you:
